A recent poll suggests that 72% of Americans believe the US used to be a good example of democracy but has not been for the past few years. In this event, immediately after the 2024 US Presidential election, a group of experts come together to discuss the election, the political and historical context, the result, and what it all means for the state of American democracy today and in the future.
It was hosted by UEA graduate Liam Heffernan, who currently hosts the America: A History podcast, dedicated to ‘exploring the people, places and events that make the USA what it is today’.
UEA experts will include Prof Rebecca Fraser (gender), Prof Toby James (election process), Dr Suzanne Doyle (foreign policy) and Dr Emma Long (political context).
